WorkPace : health and safety for computer users Software for preventing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND, August 5 2010 - Version 2.4 of Wellnomics office ergonomics risk management solution has been released.

Version 2.4 is a significant upgrade which improves support for multinational organisations with increased scalability for very large employee numbers, translation into eight languages and compliance with European and North American privacy legislation.

Monitoring of computer use in order to provide dynamic risk reporting is one of the unique features of Wellnomics Risk Management. This feature requires data to be collected continuously from employee desktops spread across many geographic locations and sent to a central server for analysis. The resulting datasets can be very large - in the order of gigabytes – and must be analysed by Wellnomics proprietary algorithms to provide continuously updated risk analyses that can be instantly available to all staff.

Refactoring in version 2.4 has increased the ability to calculate online reports for thousands of employees simultaneously whilst also providing efficient on-demand management reporting on statistics and risks across the organisation. Entire organisations of over 100,000 employees can now be supported efficiently on a single server.

With this release staff in multiple countries can now access their office ergonomics programme in nine languages, with all content in the product now being available in the following languages:

  • English
  • Dutch
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  • Russian
  • Thai
  • Chinese

The monitoring of computer use for health & safety purposes can raise privacy concerns for both employees and management. Wellnomics has conducted a review of privacy legislation and best practice in Europe, North America and Australasia and made adjustments to version 2.4 to ensure compliance across all regions is achievable. Organisations can have peace of mind that wherever their staff are located, local privacy requirements will be met or exceeded.

"Looking after thousands of office workers spread across many locations and even in different countries is a real challenge for our larger customers” says Wellnomics International Sales Director Trevor Foster. “This new release enhances our ability to provide large customers with a centrally managed office ergonomics programme that covers all staff, no matter where they’re located."

Version 2.4 is a free upgrade to existing Wellnomics Risk Management customers.

About Wellnomics Risk Management

Wellnomics Risk Management has been developed in co-operation with the internationally reknowned Netherlands TNO research institute. The software analyses and controls the risk factors that affect the health, wellbeing and productivity of office workers. This is done through the collection and analysis of data on computer use and work patterns, plus the use of online employee workstation and health assessments. Additional assessments on individual and psychosocial factors are included. The product is based upon the latest research on the multi-factorial nature of computer related injuries (RSI or WMSD).

Wellnomics Risk Management translates this data into pragmatic solutions and recommendations for each risk group, both on personal and organisational level, allowing HR and safety & health managers to take effective measures to reduce risks, and track changes in risks over time.

Online staff training on office ergonomics is also included, allowing a complete office ergonomics solution to be provided.
